Itinerary
Expand allCollapse all1: Nairobi – Amboseli National Park
(We’ll cover an approximate of 250 Km. 3 – 4 hrs.)
07:30 hrs. Your driver/guide will pick you up from your Nairobi hotel or
Nairobi airport.
Get ready to head out on your two-week journey in your private 4 x 4 safari
Land Cruiser for Amboseli National Park on the Nairobi – Mombasa
Highway.
As we approach Amboseli, you’ll see the grand form of Mt. Kilimanjaro
rising in the distance, guiding our way to the park.
Time to check in at our lodge or tented camp, freshen up and enjoy a
hearty lunch – our first safari meal.
Let’s start the first of our many game drives. Most likely you’ll spot the
park’s famous elephant families, marching to their favorite watering hole.
Toward evening we’ll return to our accommodation but keep an eye on
Kilimanjaro. The characteristic clouds covering its peak may part, revealing
its snow-capped grandeur.
Now it’s time for dinner and a chance to recap all you’ve seen on your first
safari day.
We’ll spend the first of two nights at Amboseli at your safari lodge or tented
camp.
2: Full Day – Amboseli Park
As you’ll quickly discover, we like to get up early on while on safari – it’s the
most peaceful time of the day when the gentle morning light softly plays on
the fields and the wildlife edges out looking for its breakfast.
We’ll enjoy our breakfast and then set off in our 4 x 4 safari vehicle,
exploring for more elephants but also lions, cheetah, fox, monkey, baboon,
zebra, and more.
Amboseli is known for its profuse and varied birdlife. Your guide will be
looking to spot egrets, crake, heron, falcon, eagle, and Egyptian goose by
the lakes and marshes, dotting the park.
We might take a drive-up Observation Hill, step out from our 4 x 4 and look
about the park for buffalo, hippo, pelican, and of course, the many
elephants throughout the park.
As the sun’s light begins to fade, we’ll turn again to great Kilimanjaro to
look for its snowy summit peaking out from the clouds.
You’ll spend your second night at Amboseli at your safari lodge or tented
camp.
3: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha
(We’ll cover a distance of 326 Km – Approx. 5 hrs.)
Our 4 x 4 will next take us to lovely Lake Naivasha, a freshwater retreat
with surrounding green lands harboring antelope, zebra, and more.
Want to go on a bicycling safari? Nearby Hell’s Gate Park offers the chance
to do just that! We’ll be cycling past zebra, giraffe, and antelope for a very
unique perspective as they graze just feet away.
We’ll spend the night at the Lake Naivasha safari lodge or tented camp of
your choice.
4: Lake Naivasha – Masai Mara
(Today we cover 285 km Approx. 5-6 hrs.)
Let’s begin our day with a fun boating safari over the lake’s smooth waters,
gliding by curious hippos as we take in the grazing impala and buffalo on
the shore.
Then, we’ll head out for Kenya’s most popular park, the world-famous
Masai Mara National Reserve.
After we arrive at the park, we should have time for an afternoon game
drive. You’ll get a feel for this green sprawling park, adorned with Africa’s
distinctive acacia trees.
The Mara is a busy ecosystem, one of the richest in East Africa. During
your time here don’t be surprised to see great numbers of wildlife in a
variety not experienced elsewhere.
We’ll spend the next two nights at the Masai Mara at our safari lodge or
tented camp.
5: Full Day – Masai Mara
Today shall be a game viewing extravaganza!
The Mara as is popularly known remains the most exciting wildlife eco-
system in the whole world.
It is host to the highest and varied concentration of wild animals than any
other park in the region.
The scenic appeal of this tree studded savannah plains, its moderate
climate and diversity of wild game species makes it a one stop shop for
game viewing activities.
We shall navigate the reserve on a full day of unlimited game viewing
encountering the big five and more of the lesser game.
You shall enjoy a picnic lunch by the Mara river as we watch hippos &
crocodiles or maybe the great migration (July –October).
Overnight shall be at your Maasai Mara safari lodge/ tented camp.
6: Masai Mara – Serengeti
(An average 139 Km – Approx. 3 – 4 hrs.)
Let’s enjoy one more game drive through this bountiful reserve before we
cross the border into Tanzania to visit another world-class park, Serengeti
National Park.
Remember all those wildebeests and zebra herding into the Masai Mara?
This is the park from which they came, searching for taller grasses and
water for their survival.
The Serengeti is immense with boundless wildlife, big cats and elephants
by the thousands, and grazers… up to several million.
We will have many opportunities to view this wildlife over our three days in
this immense park.
We’ll spend the next two nights at Serengeti at our safari lodge or tented
camp.
7: Full Day At Serengeti National Park
A full day game viewing drive as we explore this vast nature endowed
wildlife reserve.
Options of morning and afternoon or full day game viewing sessions are
available to you.
The annual wildebeest migration is Serengeti’s most famous attraction.
It is also home to a pride of its lions which have been fitted with radio-
transmitter collars so that their movements may be tracked.
Other wildlife you may see includes cheetah, zebra, giraffe, Thompson and
Grant’s gazelle, Eland, Impala, Klipspringer, Hippo and Warthog.
Overnight at your Serengeti Safari lodge or tented camp.
8: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Crater
(An average of 180 Kms: 3-4 hrs.)
Depart the Serengeti with a game viewing drive en-route.
Descend to the floor of the crater for game viewing in this unique caldera
park.
We shall look out for Rhino, Lion, Elephant, Leopard, Cheetah, Buffalo and
Hippo.
Later we ascend to the crater rim.
Catch a glimpse of the most magnificent sunset views in Africa from the
crater rim!
Overnight at your Ngorongoro crater safari lodge or tented camp.
9: Ngorongoro – Tarangire
(An average coverage of 180 Km – Appx. 4 hrs.)
You will enjoy this lightly touristed park as it is short on other safari-goers
and long on wildlife. This park even has its own smaller migration – about
250,000 animals. Look for lions, leopards, elephants, impalas, warthogs,
ostriches, and lots more.
And during your game drives here you can’t miss the park’s famous
baobab trees – a highly unusual species with an inverted trunk and wild
branches that resemble a root structure. The poor tree appears like it was
planted upside down.
We will spend our final safari night at our Tarangire lodge or tented camp.
10: Tarangire – Arusha
(Coverage of around 140 Km – Approximately. 1.5 hrs.)
Hard to believe but it’s our final day on safari. One more game drive around
the park and then we’re headed to the Tanzanian town of Arusha. There,

your choosing.
