1: Nairobi – Lake Nakuru

0730 Am. Our Kenya safari from Nairobi kicks off with a pick up from your Nairobi City hotel or Nairobi airport.

We’ll head out in our private 4 x 4 Jeep for Lake Nakuru National Park, taking rest stops along the way to stretch and appreciate views of the Great Rift Valley.

Lake Nakuru dazzles with its birdlife but also its scenic beauty. You’ll find storks, herons, and eagles in this bountiful spot and one of Kenya’s largest populations of black rhinos.

We’ll take game and bird watching drives around the lake, through the forest and over the woodland. Look for the big predators like lion, leopard, and cheetah, but also smaller wildlife in the forests like hyena, waterbuck, olive baboon, and colobus monkey.

Following the rich topography of the park, we’ll also be on the lookout for the rare Rothschilds giraffe, gazelle, jackal, and mongoose. This is a vivid natural environment and you’ll be struck by its density and diversity.

Our first safari night will be here at Lake Nakuru, at your choice of lodge or tented camp.

2: Lake Nakuru – Bogoria – Baringo

The park is the perfect spot for a sunrise safari as the voluminous birdlife emerges into the new day. We’ll see the first rays of light touch the lake, bringing with them the early stirrings of the wildlife.

Then we’ll jump into our 4 x 4 Jeep for a scenic trip through the Great Rift Valley to nearby Lakes Bogoria and Baringo.

Lake Bogoria lies in a volcanic region which accounts for its natural geysers and hot springs, located along the banks of the lake. But the single greatest feature of this reserve is the spectacular flocks of bright colorful flamingos adorning its shores.

Neighboring Lake Baringo is a bird haven, enjoy a sailing safari across the lake, the birdwatching is unsurpassed. You’ll be looking for nightjars, Goliath herons, and hornbills amongst its over 400 species of avian life.

You can opt to make a village visit to the Njemps Community Village for $40 per person.

Your second night will be either at Lake Bogoria or Lake Baringo depending on your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.

3: Lake Baringo – Lake Naivasha– Nairobi

We’ve got a very busy day before us, so we’ll depart early for Lake Naivasha.

The Lake Naivasha area is filled with forests, extinct volcanos, waterfalls, and dramatic gorges. It’s a high-altitude, freshwater lake featuring hippos, aquatic, and birdlife.

But there’s plenty of wildlife as well – view buffalo, impala and waterbuck drawn to the lake’s shores.

We’ll have lunch here and enjoy a sail across the lake, taking in the resident hippos.

Then, we’ll take a special trip to nearby Crescent Island Game Sanctuary – a beautiful private reserve that is filled with animals, mostly gentle grazers. The Sanctuary’s naturalist will take us on a guided walking safari to view the herds of wildebeest, waterbuck, zebra, gazelle and more.

But now it’s time for the easy drive back to Nairobi. Over our 3-day trek you’ve enjoyed many lakes, lots of wildlife and probably thousands of birds, including the always dazzling flamingoes.

We’ll arrive back in Nairobi in the early evening and drop you off at your hotel, residence or the airport.

The sights and sounds of your African safari will be lasting memories you’ll enjoy for years. But when you get the urge to safari again, we hope you’ll contact Vulture African Safaris for your next African adventure.
