Keep in mind we have two main windy seasons here in Kenya’s coastal beaches; the Kuzi and Kaskazi.
The Kuzi season runs from June through till end of September blowing from the SE, averaging 15/25knots a day, blowing consistently all day.
The Kaskazi season runs from mid-December through till mid-April, with the wind coming up after lunch, blowing from the NE averaging 15/20knots.
As for the experienced kitesurf riders, you can book your stay during Kenya’s windiest months (18-25 knots) from July through end of September. In July and August join us for some fun wave riding.
Best Conditions for Kitesurfing at Malindi
With Malindi’s Che Shale boasting excellent conditions for kitesurfing, a year-round wind, warm waters, and a beautiful beach. Below let’s break down the conditions you can expect on your trip to Kenyan beach holidays:
Wind Conditions
The wind at is consistent, blowing from the southeast for the majority of the year. This trade wind blows steadily between 12 to 25 knots, creating excellent kitesurfing conditions.
Peak Wind Season: The best time for kitesurfing is during the northeast monsoon season, from late November to March. During this period, the wind is at its most reliable, ranging from 18 to 30 knots.
Shoulder Season: There are also good conditions during the southeast monsoon season, which runs from April to October. While the winds may be lighter, ranging from 12 to 20 knots, the beach is less crowded, and you’ll still experience perfect conditions for freestyle and wave kitesurfing.
