The park is a home to a reasonable population of wildlife including zebras, klipspringer antelope, herds of African buffaloes, hartebeests, elands, Defassa waterbuck, olive baboons, and Masai giraffe among others which you may come across during a cycling game viewing safari.
You’ll marvel at Hell’s Gate National Park’s stunning cliffs, rock towers, extinct volcanoes and breathtaking gorges.
Hiking and cycling are encouraged here, and we can do a bit of both. We’ll trek through Hell’s Gate Gorge, a steep, red sandstone formation cut by water and time. Walking through this narrow canyon, we’ll spot the unique volcanic remnants called Fischer’s and Central Towers.
Amazing scenery will surround you thanks to Fischer’s Tower, the Central Tower, and the park’s gorge. Fischer’s Tower came to be as a result of volcanic activity that occurred 35 million years ago. It was later named after a German explorer named Gustav Fischer, and it is now one of the park’s many popular rock climbing sites.
And we’ll go on a cycling safari. Riding over the savannah, past towering cliffs we’ll look for giraffe, buffalo, zebra, hartebeest, gazelle and possibly hyena. What a fun way to experience the wildlife!
Biking Adventures at Hells Gate Park
Hell’s Gate National Park’s sweeping cliffs inspired the Lion King, but perhaps its real novelty is that its striking landscapes and abundant wildlife can all be explored on two wheels. Because of the park’s lack of predators, Hell’s Gate is the only game park in Kenya that can be explored without a vehicle.
Begin your biking tour at Hell’s Gate upon arriving at the gate in the morning, then spend two hours cycling through the park, enjoying the stunning landscapes and diverse wildlife. Afterwards you’ll visit the gorges within the park, where you can walk underneath and through caves and be amazed by the geological formations.
The adventure offers close-up experiences with the park’s unique features, including towering cliffs and steaming geothermal activity. By the end of the adventure, you’ll return the bikes to the gate to conclude the tour.
