Hadzabe Tribe Tours In Tanzania
Northern Tanzania is home to the Hadzabe, one of the last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes on Earth. Known for shunning material possessions and social hierarchy, the Hadza roam as needed to find game, tubers and wild berries.
The Hadza are a modern hunter-gatherer people living in northern Tanzania. They are considered one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes in Africa with approximately 1,300 tribe members. Their native homeland includes the Eyasi Valley and nearby hills. The Hadza remain an important study focus for anthropologists, as they represent a modern link to ways of human existence and survival largely abandoned by most of humanity.
Explore the Hadzabe bushmen and Datoga tribe near Lake Eyasi, just south of the Ngorongoro Highlands. These indigenous communities offer a rare and immersive glimpse into Tanzania’s ancient and enduring cultures. Book an authentic tour to witness the fascinating rituals, rites of passage, arts, and everyday life of these tribes.

Visiting Datoga Tribe In Tanzania
While the Hadzabe attract more tourists to Lake Eyasi, there is another tribe that lives nearby – The Datoga Tribe. They aren’t hunter-gatherers like the Hadza.
The Datoga (or Wamang’ati) are a Nilotic tribe primarily found in the Karatu District of the Arusha Region, as well as historically in the Manyara and Singida regions. Known for their pastoral lifestyle, the Datoga are skilled in metalwork, beadwork, and cattle herding, reflecting their deep cultural roots.
You can visit both the Hadzabe and the Datoga within the same day if you start early in the morning. With the Hadzabe you will be going on hunts and fruit collection, but with the Datoga, it will simply be visiting their houses, seeing a bunch of daily activities such as ironwork and chatting with them.
