1.Watamu Marine Park
There are some great snorkeling spots around the bay to Stand-Up Paddle in Watamu and what better way to enjoy them than combined with an SUP excursion. Paddle out to the snorkeling spot, anchor the boards and get in the water to explore the diverse marine life that can be found at the coral gardens.
2.Mida Creek Paddleboarding Trip
In Watamu we are lucky enough to have a beautiful inland creek called Mida which provides the opportunity for one of the best stand up paddleboarding Kenya experiences. It offers fantastic views and private beaches to enjoy sundowners and quiet days out. There are many streams that link into the creek to explore and due to them being sheltered on either side they provide the flattest water for you to enjoy. Watamu Dolphin Stand-Up Paddleboarding Trips
Stand Up Paddle boarding with dolphins is listed as one of Kenya’s Signature experiences. It is our most unique Stand-Up Paddleboarding excursion and a once in a lifetime experience to get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures. We are lucky enough in Watamu to have a number of resident dolphin pods. The dolphins more commonly found off the Watamu reef are the Indo Pacific Bottlenose dolphin, the rare Indo Pacific Humpback dolphin and the offshore acrobatic Spinner dolphin.
Stand-Up Paddleboard Trips on Watamu’s Mida Creek
This trip is done with emphasis on safety precautions. The trip lasts for approximately 3hours – 3 1/2 hours and, depending on the tides, the winds and the trip you want, might follow the following itinerary:
Pick-up and drop-off at the starting point – Mida Creek.
Briefing for the SUP, paddles and life jackets and guiding from our great local guides
We shall set out and start exploring the smaller channels of Mida and walks and swims in our favourite places.
Discover on the calm waters of Mida whilst bird watching, explore on magical mangrove walks, stopping for a picnic or swim.
Enjoying the sunset, at the right time of month – moonrise and SUP under the full moon
Drinks and snacks, transport back to your hotel.
