1 : Mombasa – Amboseli National Park

We’ll pick you up early from your Kenya beach hotel or residence and bring you to the Mombasa train station.

0800 hrs.  Depart Mombasa for Emali (near Amboseli Park) on the new Madaraka Express.

We’ll pass through Tsavo East & West National Parks, enjoy scenic views and perhaps spot some wildlife as well.

10:52 hrs.  Arrive at Emali Train Station where your safari driver/guide will meet you and bring you to Amboseli National Park.

The drive from the train station to Amboseli is over great savannah plains – on your way, look for colorful Maasai herdsmen tending their cattle amongst the local farms.

You can’t miss the tallest peak in Africa, Mt. Kilimanjaro dominating the landscape as you enter Amboseli Park.

We’ll embark on our first game drive, looking for the great populations of elephants inhabiting this reserve. The park is also known for all the Big Five and sightings are common.

Look also to Kilimanjaro toward evening as the cloud cover near its peak tends to burn away leaving one of Africa’s most iconic views.

We’ll spend our first safari night at Amboseli at your choice of lodge or tented camp.

2: Amboseli – Lake Naivasha

Let’s rise with the sun and the birds to relish the new day upon the fresh savannah and witness the wildlife emerging onto the plain.

We’ll breakfast and then take a final game drive in the park as we exit for Lake Naivasha.

Comfortable in our 4 x 4 Jeep, we’ll head toward the floor of the Great Rift Valley with scenic views of this dramatic landscape.

We’ll arrive at Lake Naivasha in the mid-afternoon with time for a game drive to view zebra, giraffe, antelope and some of the 100 species of birdlife.

We’ll overnight at Lake Naivasha at your choice of safari lodge or tented camp.

3: Lake Naivasha – Lake Nakuru

We’ll be up early because that’s the best way to enjoy a safari! Also, it’s a beautiful time for a morning boat ride, taking in the varied birdlife as we glide past the hippos on this Rift Valley lake.

Then we’re off to nearby Crescent Island Sanctuary for a guided walking safari. Here, you can spot pelicans and cormorants on the shore and stroll by gently grazing buffalo, zebra, giraffe, gazelle, and many others.

Should you wish, there is also an optional visit to Hell’s Gate National Park, by bicycle. We’ll bike or stroll here amongst grazing animals and steaming geysers – truly a remarkable spot!

Then it’s a short drive to Lake Nakuru, a beautiful park featuring the lake itself, waterfalls, acacia forests, and big, rocky escarpments. The wildlife here is an unusual mix of flamingoes, big predators and endangered black and white rhinos.

We’ll be looking for lion, leopard, zebra, giraffe, monkey, baboon and more.

Tonight, we’ll stay in Lake Nakuru at your safari lodge or tented camp.

4: Lake Nakuru – Masai Mara

We’re at a perfect spot for an early morning drive for game and bird watching. Look for pelicans, kingfishers, ostriches, herons, and eagles around the lake.

We’ll proceed through the Rift Valley on our way to our final park, Masai Mara National Reserve.

We should arrive in time for an afternoon game drive.

The park is an inviting mix of rolling hills, golden savannah and Africa’s iconic acacia trees sprinkled throughout. It also features one of the richest and densest populations of wildlife, especially predators anywhere. Be on the lookout for lion, leopard, cheetah, and down by the rivers, crocodiles.

This is the first of two nights at the park at your lodge or tented camp.

5: Full Day – Masai Mara

We’ll meet the day with an early morning game drive in our 4 x 4. The light breaking over the Mara is lovely as the first stirrings of wildlife begin.

The Masai Mara is known as the site of the Great Migration and should you be here at that time (July – October) you’ll witness the greatest movement of animals on the planet. Zebra, wildebeest, gazelle and more pour over the Mara River into the park by the thousands on their yearly cycle for ever fresher grasses on which to subsist.

The sight of this of this torrent of wildlife stretching for miles is an unforgettable image.

We will visit the Mara River and view the hippos, crocodiles and perhaps other predators lying in wait. The day will be filled with such sightings.

There are also several optional activities should you wish to partake: Enjoy a visit at a nearby Maasai village and learn about the people, their culture and lifestyle. You can also hop aboard a pre-dawn hot air balloon flight above the Mara as the sunlight breaks across the fields – a truly unforgettable experience of your safari. Just tell your driver/guide and he’ll make all the arrangements.

Our final safari night will be spent here in the Mara at your choice of lodge or tented camp.

6: Masai Mara – Nairobi

After a leisurely breakfast at your lodge/camp, your dedicated driver guide will assist you with the checkout process and proceed to Nairobi – Kenya’s colorful capital city.

On the way, your guide will point out the Longonot extinct volcano which is a strato volcano located southeast of Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya. It is thought to have last erupted in the 1860s and its name is derived from the Maasai word Oloonong’ot, meaning “mountains of many spurs” or “steep ridges “.

You can opt to drive via Naivasha for lunch/activities at an extra cost or drive straight to Nairobi and pass by Kiambethu farm for the tea farm tour inclusive of a three-course buffet lunch (at an extra cost) OR drive straight back to the capital and later transfer to Jomo Kenyatta International airport for your back home.

We’ll head back to the capital and should have you there in the late afternoon. Then we’ll bring you to your hotel, residence or the airport.
