About Solio Game Reserve

Solio Game Reserve prides itself as the pioneers in rhino conservation, with one mission – to protect endangered species and offer a safe haven for orphaned animals. Explore this well-run sanctuary at Solio Ranch, founded in 1970 as a breeding ground for white and black rhinos. It’s now known as an important refuge for both species. The program has been so successful that many rhinos have even been translocated from here to other parks and reserves. The small park is literally full of rhino, and other safari animals have been introduced as well.

A Luxury Safari Tour

The Top Things To Do In Solio Conservancy

When planning on taking a safari trip to Solio Conservancy, travelers who stay inside the conservancies are able to take part in a number of wildlife safari activities that are not allowed inside National Parks in Kenya, including night game drives and private bush walks. Each moment provides the opportunity to immerse yourself in this special place.

Guided game drives are the main activity on Solio Ranch. Wildlife on Solio Game Reserve is abundant, making for fabulous game viewing with plentiful sightings. Spot a diversity of animals from lions and leopard to zebra, giraffe and a whole range of antelope species, to name but a few. You don’t have to venture far from the lodge to have great game drives. Enjoy bush breakfasts and sundowners as part of the experience.

Solio has a complete range of outdoor activities for guests to fully embrace everything that this magical part of Kenya has to offer. Cycle, take nature walks (possible, but only within the grounds of the lodge) or horse ride across Solio Ranch (although it’s available only to guests staying at the lodge), soar above the mountain tops in our private helicopter safari, indulge in a spa treatment, visit a local flower or coffee farm, game drive through the bush and sip sundowners next to a journey of giraffes.

Step into the wilderness of Solio Ranch on a wildlife safari. Explore the stunning landscapes, from enchanting forests to vast open plains, all framed by the majestic Mount Kenya. Solio Game Reserve is a small private space and is totally fenced: you can see most of the reserve’s animals in a couple of days. Black and white rhino concentrations are excellent here. Lion sightings are also possible. Other wildlife includes zebra, giraffe, warthog and buffalo. Antelope species include the stately eland, Coke’s hartebeest, Beisa oryx, waterbuck and impala. Take note that predators such as lion, cheetah and leopard are either resident or pass through regularly.
